Design

The user-friendly control board needs almost no user manual. The 2.5-inch LCD is the biggest amongst current all-in-ones evaluated and allows you to modify it on an sd card easily. And we loved the tilt-to-view ability, particularly compared with the smaller-sized 1.5-inch LCD on the HP Photosmart C4480. Along with publishing photos from your computer system, the WorkForce 500 will also publish from sd card or PictBridge-enabled video cams.

The WorkForce 500 was the fastest all-in-one printer we evaluated. It published quality documents at 30 ppm; copying was equally fast at 29 ppm, and the quality was excellent. Checks were equally as outstanding and looked just comparable to duplicates. Picture prints were perfect: A 4 x 6-inch snapshot was published off an SD Card in a swift 26 seconds; the canon Pixma MP190 took 70 seconds to accomplish the same job. Its top-loading automated document feeder works: we faxed 15 sheets in 50 secs.

You will spend for this quality, however. At $129, the WorkForce 500 does not come inexpensive, and the ink isn’t a steal either ($12.99 to $19.99 each). You can change cartridges individually on the WorkForce 500, changing individual shades as needed.

Decision

Such as the Epson WorkForce 500. Its speed and quality beat out various other all-in-one printers we’ve looked at recently. Black-and-white duplicates were evident, and its ability to publish pictures was slightly better than the competitors. If you’ve obtained the cash in your budget, the WorkForce 500 is a great choice for a genuine office with the bonus of excellent picture publishing.
